If you regularly drive around Grand Forks, with a large group of people or plenty of cargo, you probably need the largest SUV in the Chevrolet lineup, which is the full-size Suburban. Check out this guide to learn more about the dimensions and features of the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and other sizable Chevy SUVs.

The Chevy Suburban

The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban is a popular choice among SUV buyers who have a large family because of its composed ride, cavernous passenger and cargo space, and generous list of standard features. It’s available in six trim levels to cater to different drivers’ needs and preferences: the base LS, LT, the off-road-ready Z71, the sporty RST, Premier, and the range-topping High Country. Every trim has the same exterior and interior dimensions, but they differ in terms of features. Let’s take a closer look at the Chevrolet Suburban:

Chevy Suburban’s Exterior Dimensions

The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban is a hulking SUV that sits on a 134.1-inch wheelbase. This SUV measures 225.7 inches long, 81.1 inches wide, and 75.7 inches high, making it one of the largest vehicles in its segment. It has a curb weight of 5,808 pounds and a gross vehicle weight rating of 7,500 pounds, which gives it impressive hauling and towing capabilities.

With a ground clearance of 7.9 inches, the Suburban is capable of handling some light off-roading. If you frequently drive away from the pavement, it’s a good idea to opt for the available air suspension, which increases the ground clearance to 10 inches.

Chevy Suburban’s Interior Dimensions

In its standard configuration, the three-row Chevrolet Suburban can accommodate up to eight people. However, if you opt for the available captain’s chairs in the second row, seating capacity will be reduced to seven. You can also choose a nine-seat layout by adding a small middle seat to the front row.

You won’t find a bad seat in the Suburban as it provides ample legroom and headroom in all three rows. Front occupants enjoy the roomiest seats, which offer 44.5 inches of legroom, 42.3 inches of headroom, 66 inches of shoulder room, and 61.5 inches of hip room.

Second-row passengers can also feel relaxed with 42 inches of legroom, 38.9 inches of headroom, 64.8 inches of shoulder room, and 61.3 inches of hip room. The third-row seats may be a little tighter, but they’re nonetheless adult-friendly. They provide 36.7 inches of legroom, 38.2 inches of headroom, 61.7 inches of shoulder room, and 49.4 inches of hip room.

Chevy Suburban’s Cargo Dimensions

Another appealing aspect of the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban is its immense cargo room. If you leave all of the seats up, you’ll have 41.5 cubic feet of storage space. Folding down the rearmost seats will expand the cargo area to 93.8 cubic feet. With the second- and third-row seats down, the SUV offers an incredible 144.7 cubic feet of cargo space, which is enough to fit large items such as a dresser or a pile of plywood sheets. The Suburban has more cargo room than every other full-SUV, except the GMC Yukon XL.

Chevy Suburban’s Notable Features

Besides providing plenty of room for passengers and cargo, the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban is also equipped with a wide array of features to deliver a comfortable and enjoyable ride. This SUV keeps its occupants connected and entertained with a generous selection of infotainment features, including a 10.2-inch touch-screen display, eight USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, satellite radio, HD radio, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. In addition, it comes with comfort and convenience features such as a tri-zone automatic climate control system, remote start, proximity keyless entry, and two household-style power outlets.

To reduce your chances of getting into an accident, the Suburban comes standard with active safety features such as forward-collision alert, pedestrian monitoring, automatic high-beam headlamps, automatic emergency braking, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, rear-seat alert, and teen driver monitoring.

2021 Chevrolet Tahoe

The second-largest SUV in the Chevrolet lineup is the Tahoe, which is also a full-size SUV. Similar to the Suburban, this SUV has also grown in size for the 2021 model year. It has a 120.9-inch wheelbase and measures 210.7 inches long and 75.7 inches high.

Up to nine people can sit in the Tahoe. Front passengers can stretch out with 44.5 inches of legroom and 42.3 inches of headroom for front passengers, while second-row passengers get 42 inches of legroom and 38.9 inches of headroom. The third row offers 36.7 inches of legroom and 38.2 inches of headroom. As for cargo space, this SUV gives you 25.5 cubic feet behind the third-row seats, 72.6 cubic feet behind the middle-row seats, and 122.9 cubic feet behind the front seats.

Other than being smaller in size, the Chevrolet Tahoe shares a lot of similarities with the Suburban. It offers almost the same sets of standard infotainment features and driver-assistance systems as its bigger sibling.

2021 Chevrolet Traverse

The Traverse is the next biggest Chevrolet SUV. Despite being a mid-size SUV, it isn’t a lot smaller than the Tahoe. It also rides on a 120.9-inch wheelbase, but it’s 204.3 inches long and 70.7 inches tall.

The Chevrolet Traverse is a three-row SUV that can seat up to eight people. It can comfortably accommodate adults of most sizes in the front row, which has 41 inches of legroom and 39.6 inches of headroom. Second-row passengers should be happy with 38.4 inches of legroom and 39 inches of headroom, while third-row passengers get 33.5 inches of legroom and 38.2 inches of headroom.

As for infotainment features, every Traverse comes with a 7-inch touch-screen display, a Wi-Fi hot spot, six USB ports, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. This SUV has fewer standard active safety features than its full-size siblings, offering only a rearview camera, seat-belt reminder, rear-seat reminder, and teen driver monitoring.
